Chervon-Led International Safety Standard for Chain Beam Saws Officially Published

An international safety standard for hand-held chain beam saws, IEC 62841-2-25, developed under the leadership of Chervon, has recently been officially published. This marks the first time that China's power tool industry has taken the lead in developing an IEC international standard for an entirely new product category, representing a milestone in the participation of Chinese enterprises in global power tool standard-setting.

Chain beam saws are specialized power tools designed to cut large timber sections, such as structural beams used in building and residential construction. Previously, similar applications often relied on conventional circular saws retrofitted with chainsaw chains or bulky, large-scale cutting equipment. Such solutions frequently presented challenges including inadequate safety protection, poor compatibility and limited ease of use, creating potential safety hazards on construction sites.

To address these industry-wide challenges, Chervon drew on its extensive technical expertise and product development experience to conduct systematic research into the mechanical safety and usability of chain beam saws. The company subsequently spearheaded efforts to establish internationally harmonized safety requirements for this product category.

Throughout the standard development process, Chervon incorporated practical insights from product research, development and testing into the technical requirements. Particular emphasis was placed on chain guarding, preventing access to hazardous operating areas, guide bar tip protection, additional protective devices and safety clearances. These measures were designed to minimize operational risks without compromising cutting efficiency. All proposed technical solutions underwent validation through functional prototypes and comprehensive testing to ensure that the requirements were technically sound and practical to implement.

The development of the standard spanned nearly seven years. Chervon completed the initial draft in 2019, followed by several rounds of technical presentations and feasibility discussions. With continued guidance and support from the Standardization Administration of China and the relevant power tool standardization subcommittee, the project advanced through the international standard-setting process and was formally approved by IEC Technical Committee 116 (IEC TC 116) in 2021. It subsequently progressed through multiple key stages, including technical validation, working draft revisions and international voting on the Final Draft International Standard (FDIS). Following more than 10 rounds of discussions at international meetings, the standard completed the required procedures and was officially published in 2026.

The publication of IEC 62841-2-25 not only demonstrates Chervon's ability to translate its independent research and development achievements into product-specific international standards, but also marks an important step forward for Chinese power tool manufacturers in contributing to global standard-setting and strengthening their influence in the international industry.

Better Tools. Better World. From developing safer, more innovative products to helping build a stronger industry ecosystem, Chervon remains committed to both mainstream product categories and specialized applications such as chain beam saws. Through product innovation and the development of safety standards, the company strives to meet diverse customer needs across different working environments and continuously enhance customer satisfaction.
